About Ross and Sandra

Ross and Sandra are local dancers from Brisbane, and have been dancing tango since 2000, studying Milonguero and salon Tango.

Since they first discovered the magical world of Argentine Tango in 2000, Sandra and Ross have diligently gained a progressive command of the dance, and demonstrated their talents by opening a tango school, Friends of Tango in 2003.

From small beginnings in their garage, with the laying of a beautiful dance floor, now transformed into a Private studio to the larger East Brisbane State School Hall, Friends of Tango has become one of the largest Tango Schools in Queensland.

In addition to regular Tango classes for Beginner, Intermediate, Advance, they offer private lessons in their home studio. Specialty workshops dealing with specific aspects of Tango, are held mainly in East Brisbane, although Ross and Sandra have also taught them on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.

Apart from giving demonstrations throughout Queensland, New Zealand and Buenos Aires, and taking lessons from Tango masters visiting Australia, Ross and Sandra refresh their skills by updating their knowledge in male & female styling techniques, Salon Tango, Milonguero, Milonga con Traspie and Vals, by visiting Buenos Aires every year.

On each of these 5-6 week trips, (Tango Tours) they take a group of students. Anyone interested can visit their website Friend of Tango for more information.

East Brisbane State School Hall is the location not only for Friends of Tango classes and workshops, but also each Thursday evening for the Weekly Practica and each 3rd Saturday night, social dance (Milonga) “Pequeño Niño Bien”. Every 2nd & 4th Sunday afternoon Friends of Tango also hosts “Tango on Domingo” Milonga at the Greenslopes Bowls Club, and 1st & 3rd Sunday afternoon “Tango en la Coast” Milonga at Gold Coast Italo Centre, Clear Island Waters.

Ross and Sandra are dedicated to passing on the beauty and true spirit of Argentine Tango to the Tango community here in Queensland.

  1. Dear Ross and Sandra,
I’m hoping I’m the first to leave you a comment, and that it works.
This is a great idea to do for Friends of Tango, hope it all goes smoothly. Cheers Maddy

  2. Hi Maddy,
Hope your well. We are off to Buenos Aires in 2 weeks, and am looking forward to some time in Tango City. We are both well, busy of course teaching and getting ready for our Tango Tour. We look forward to you joining us next year.
    Bye for now Sandra
